CLASSES: CARTOONING—AUGUST '02
Other people's work, however, I could reproduce fine. Our first homework assignment was to try drawing famous cartoon characters, to get a sense of how other artists do eyes, mouths, heads, and so forth. (These were not traced, just eyeballed.) Perhaps, I reasoned, I just needed to get to know my characters a little better, to understand exactly what about their faces gave them their personalities, and I could do better. (Eventually, I did.)
