CLASSES: CERAMICS—MARCH '04
This was the only piece I took home to work on and spent many hours trying to get it to look like a mask of sleep. I almost didn't glaze it because it turned out so well and I didn't want it butchered like my Calla Lily vase, but I took a chance and the white gives it such a cool presence: half marble and half death-mask. It makes me think about sleep, death, masking and unmasking. I presented it in our church's art fair, and it's one of my favorites.
