The next night we did an Asian watercolor theme, which included lots of subtle calligraphic techniques that I completely tanked at, but then we did this fun project. We crumpled up rice paper to give it texture then unfolded it and painted, with quick, inexact strokes, a still life of any combination of pears, oranges, and avocados. I didn't have the color orange, so mine looks more like a peach, but whatever. Then we glued some strips of Chinese writing to a foam board and then the painting on top of that. Doesn't it make a fun & artsy collage?
