ALEX CALDWELL: JANUARY 2004
NEW YEAR'S WITH ALEX

We visited Alex & other assorted family members in January 2004. Alex was 18 months old and so much fun! You can see many more pictures of Alex and the rest of our trip in the Travel Gallery.

One of the first events was Alex's first haircut! Her wispy hair had finally grown ... into a stunning mullet. Here Papa distracts her as Nana prepares to snip off the offending strands.

Aww.

Alex gave my mom a bracelet with Nana on it, a highly successful choice — my mom wears it proudly every day! This is at church — it's appropriate even for dressy occasions.

BABYSITTING

We were able to take care of our favorite niece at Kim & Erik's house for several whirlwind days. We fed her, learned oodles of Barney songs, and raced around playing with her.>>> Alex has a strong nurturing streak herself! She always made sure Sierra was comfortable for her naps.<<< She looks very serene here, because she's transfixed by Barney.>>>

One of her favorite things to do was brush her teeth! Go figure.

A moment of calm gazing at the Christmas tree.

DIGITAL FUN

More pictures?

Alex enjoyed our new digital-camera toy as much as we did. She helped us by posing right up close.

We think this would make a good album cover.

One of her favorite pictures was this one of Steve posing with a pen. No, we can't explain it. But she would frequently call to see it in the display: "Uncle pen! Uncle pen!"

CHILDREN'S MUSEUM

On a bitterly cold January day, we took a trip into Boston with Kim & Erik to the Children's Museum. The wind chill was way too many degrees below zero, which Alex did not enjoy. We were halfway from the parking garage to the museum entrance when she whimpered pitifully to Erik, "All done, Daddy. All done."

                                         So much fun it's exhausting!
