MOVING TO SEATTLE, WASHINGTON
But enough fun and games. It was time to get moving (really). After much research into various self-moving methods (let me know if you want me to e-mail you our comparison chart!), we decided on Self-Pack crates. I'd recommend them, but they went out of business. But we didn't know they were going to at the time, and it's a great concept for long-distance moves. You load your things into crates, about a car's length, 1/2 a parking space wide (see picture), a little taller than a person, and they truck them out to where you're going. They also store them for you for as long as you want. Since we needed storage while we looked for an apartment, this would save us unpacking our stuff into a storage facility then repacking it to move to our new home. We ordered three crates but ended up using two (hard to estimate the amount of your stuff in terms of crates), and they take any extra back for free. Self-Pack contracted with local storage, moving, and trucking companies, so a local place actually dropped them off and picked them up.
