Anything too good to thrown away but too monetarily worthless to sell went to the Bible League thrift shop (Bibles for Missions is the official name). Unfortunately, we had different ideas than some of the staff over what was thrift shop-worthy. When we had heavy items like furniture, we'd meet some of the workers. I'd call to arrange a pickup and was invariably asked about stairs and long walkways, "because our volunteers are quite elderly, you know." I wasn't sure why they were the chosen ones to pick up furniture, but Steve & I gladly acted as pack mules. Anyway, several times when the volunteers came, they'd eye our offerings with skepticism. Once, they promptly wheeled Steve's office chair to the dumpster as a "favor" to save us the strain. When they left, we just as promptly raced down and pulled it out of the trash. Yes, the seat is ripped, but it's still good! It ended up fitting in our available space, and we weren't charged by weight, so we moved it. Thrift-shop snobs!
