First we saw Jim Cameron's new 3-D IMAX movie Ghosts of the Abyss, about international undersea dives to the Titanic. It was neat to see how well-preserved some of the artifacts still are, although they're sometimes deceptively fragile. Anything organic has been consumed. The wood, for instance, looks stable but has been eaten through by underwater creatures and would turn to dust if touched. The exploration was by submersible and then camera-toting robots that could propel through the wreckage.
