OUTINGS: SYDNEY POLLACK, OCT. '04
We saw Sydney Pollack as part of our ties with the Warren Report. Pollack talked about his experiences directing and crafting Tootsie — and being wooed into acting in it by Dustin Hoffmann, the process of making Out of Africa, and the difficulties and delights of working with various famous actors. Did you know he shot his first movie in Seattle? We were nowhere near close enough for our camera to zoom in this far, even if we had thought to bring it, so I couldn't resist downloading this when I was reading a newspaper article about the event. Thank you, photographer whose credit I've lost! We've been fortunate to attend a lot of events and film showings like this one, mainly free. For instance, we saw Fix, a documentary about heroin addiction in Vancouver, B.C., and had a Q&A afterward with a man involved in helping with needle-exchange programs here.
