Our first day in Acadia, in Bar Harbor, we took the Loop Road around the park. The film at the Welcome Center told us this was the road "tourists" took — so, naturally, off we went! We stopped with all the other lemmings to look at a faint white splash in the distance, which might have been a whale but was probably just a rock. What do we care? We're tourists!
