That little sign you can see (we were photographing through a closed gate) points down to the St. Peter's Abbey catacombs, where the Von Trapps hid from the Nazis. Well, not really, but they did perhaps serve early Christians as a sanctuary and they inspired drama! I went on a Sound of Music Tour when I accompanied my uncle Jim, aunt Lauren and cousin Jimmy in junior high — I enjoyed seeing the gazebo and the manor house used for filming the front, etc., but I decided not to subject Steve to this use of time and money — imagine a busload of tourists singing along to "My Favorite Things."
