Heiligenstadt was an absolutely charming and serene area, full of vineyards and Heurige, such as this one, where we ate (and ate and ate) dinner. Each little vineyard has a Heuriger, which means "this year" in the local slang, where they serve their new wine. We made sure to get water to dilute it, because it's strong! The vineyards curl up overhead, with the night sky beyond. The Heuriger was filled with locals celebrating birthdays, singing along with the roving accordion player and singer, or just enjoying a night out with friends.
