We had planned to go to the opera that evening. This is the opera building. Vienna opera is famous — and accessible to the reasonably broke. You can get a cheap ticket if you stand along the wall for the performance. Unfortunately, once we'd determined that being in close quarters made me cough uncontrollably, the opera was out. I didn't think the patrons who'd paid for their seats would look kindly upon this raucous, germ-spewing tourist.
