Our first destination on arrival in Los Angeles was Venice Beach. The temperature reached the 80s during our stay, although this first day wasn't quite warm enough for swimming in the Pacific — we settled for wading. I couldn't remember the last time I'd been somewhere warm in February. I understood the appeal!
