PENNSYLVANIA, EAST COAST, MARCH '03
One of the evenings, we all went out to Friendly's for their Super Melt-Sundae special. (Who could resist? And we don't have Friendly's out here.) Amanda P. initiated a menu game while we waited where one person drew lines or a shape or two and the other had to put together a drawing from that beginning. Here are some of Steve's and my results. You can see the starter lines in one color and the drawing in the other. Then Steve talked about the book he's writing on cooking and spirituality, and how giving and preparing food relates to hospitality, and Amanda P.'s eyes grew wide. Steve thought he was making his point until Amanda exclaimed, "The cinnamon bread! I left it in the oven! Some hospitality!" So we flew back to assure ourselves that the house hadn't burned down. (It hadn't. And the bread was still yummy, barring some blackened edges.)
