Steve makes like a nervous immigrant in the great hall where they were processed during the time Ellis Island was in use, 1892-1924. My mother's relatives came through Ellis Island from Finland and Sweden. You can look people up for free online at ellisislandrecords.org. There are even records of anybody who sailed into the country, so some Lansinghs were recorded returning after European trips, and my Mummu and her mother's later visit to relatives in Finland was also noted.
