PEMBROKE II, EAST COAST, APRIL '03
Perhaps because of the driving sleet (I wonder why Kim & Alex elected not to come with us after all?), the reenactors had little to do but sit by their fires and talk with us. And so they did. We learned a lot about the history of the colonies and about how smoky fires were before proper chimneys were invented. Here a brave man ventures out toward his stables, past his for now barren gardens.
