Our goal was Neah Bay and the northwesternmost point in the contiguous United States. It's on Makah Nation land, where they charged a $9 recreation fee for simply driving there. We decided they needed it when we got to the last stretch of road: potholes so big, Jeanie thought we'd hit a deer when we fell into the first one! After we reached the end of the road (driving 2 miles an hour), it was a mile and a half hike to the overlook. Here I am walking one of the swampier parts. Was it worth it? ...
