After a while, I found that varying the head shape brought the drawings to life. The woman on the top left was the most intriguing thing I drew the first day.
We also learned to ink the first day; or rather, he tried to teach it to me. Notice that my lines come out all squiggly and nervous-looking instead of bold and confident. I never was able to get the hang of it, and eventually starting doing my "inking" in the computer to get a smoother line. (Even then, I was never able to master the idea of varying thin and thick lines to give depth to the drawing.)
