CLASSES: STRAW HATMAKING—FEBRUARY '03
There aren't as many steps to straw hats, thankfully. Look — it's already time to swirl the headsize ribbon! This is the ribbon that circles the inside of the crown, to keep the hat the size of your head and absorb grease (hey, it's easier to replace a ribbon than a whole hat!). You gently curve the grosgrain ribbon with pressure and a hot iron so that it will fit the circular opening without bunching.
