CLASSES: HATMAKING
Milliner Izzie Lewis taught us to make a buckram hat, then felt and straw, thereby completing the three most basic types. I then took an optional class working with straw braid. From here on, I can take monthly workshops and use her studio to create whatever my little heart desires. Here are step-by-step photos for the traditional techniques we were taught, forming hats on wooden blocks and constructing by hand and machine.
