CLASSES: STRAW-BRAID HATMAKING—MARCH '03
To fit the lining into the deep cloche shape of the brim, we blocked it on the same hat block.

After steaming the lining, I drew it evenly down around the block and tacked it, then pulled a string tight around the base.

To help it keep its shape and stay upright in the crown (instead of flopping over my forehead every time I removed my hat), we sprayed chemical sizing on the lining then let it dry.
