The next steps will fly you'll think the pictures went by so fast you didn't even see them. The crown and brim were joined, and the braid was transitioned over the join. I then covered the rest of the brim with the braid, cutting off smaller pieces to fit the edges. (If the hat were a perfect sphere, the braid would fit evenly, but it was not.) Then I lined the brim with light blue satin as contrast. Then, as always, I swirled and pinned in the headsize ribbon. Ah, the whirling slides have stopped on just that picture. You can see the stitches made inside the crown to pin all the spirals of braid in place. The dark blue lining will be sewn behind the headsize ribbon and hide all the mess.
