THE CALDWELL CLAN

VISITS AND UPDATES

Traveling To and Fro!
I visited Pembroke most recently in January 2007 after my mom's vitrectomy (that's an eye surgery, not a vasectomy!) and got to see the whole family since Erik, Kim, & Alex came to visit, and Ethan and Bailey stopped in for the weekend. We all celebrated Grampy's 85th birthday together.

We also visited Pembroke on our way back from London in March 2006 and in January 2005, and the family came to visit us in Seattle in August 2005. I also got to see Caldwells in October 2005 at Grandma's memorial service in Indianapolis. We visited the Caldwells on our way to and from Maine in August 2003. See pictures here. (Scroll down to see pictures from the way back through.) Pictures from newer trips will be posted soon. See even more pictures on Alex's page.

Enjoy pictures of our East Coast trip as well! (Same scrolling action.) We saw the Caldwell family (including, of course, Alex) in Massachusetts and Matt & Anju in Maryland.

My dad's still busy as a social worker at Brockton Hospital, and my mom manages scheduling and other office work for Visiting Angels. My mom has had problems with a detached retina and had three surgeries to correct it—healing is slow but progressing, and she enjoys wearing the occasional eye patch and playing pirate. Arrr! Both Nana & Papa still dote on their granddaughter, and we can only hope our own child is as cute and beloved as Alex.

Mom & Dad brave the weather at the infamous July 2004 cook-"out" to celebrate Independence Day & Ethan's birthday. Aunt Lauren provided the rainy-day party evidence of the fearless barbecuers.

Visit Alex's page to see the cutest niece we've ever had! She's 4 and a half now and has the greatest personality. I realize I've been an abysmal aunt for not updating her pictures, but trust me that she's adorable and so smart and original.
Erik is busy at work for Exel, and the family's been moved to Ohio. They have a very nice house there and have settled in well.
Kim also moved to Ohio, instead of staying in Bridgewater to be near Nana and Papa as she threatened. :) When they were visiting Massachusetts this January, Alex expressed her preference for living in Bridgewater as well. When Kim said that it would be difficult for them to stay in Bridgewater instead of returning to Ohio (thinking of the fact that Erik's job is in Ohio, their house in Bridgewater has been sold to a new family, and so on), Alex soberly agreed: "Yes, I didn't bring enough clothes." She has her priorities straight and is definitely her mother's child!

Ethan Caldwell: ancharon AT gmail.com

Ethan, 21, is finishing up at Northeastern University in downtown Boston, majoring in computer science. Bailey, his girlfriend, has moved to Boston as well and is working at Starbucks. With the computer experience on one hand and the coffee experience on the other, shouldn't they just admit they belong in Seattle?

OTHER FAMILY

I've accepted the fact that I'm such a hopeless updater now that it's pointless to pretend to keep other relatives' information and pictures current! I'll try to share something from time to time. And if you'd like us to try to connect you with e-mail or snail-mail addresses of family and friends of the Caldwells, write us and let us know.

Some sad and recent news, insofar as it happened since the last time I updated two years ago, is that Auntie Gin and Grandma have both passed away. Some happy news is that Denise and Ericka have both had new baby sons!

IMMIGRATION RESEARCH

My uncle Paul did some research into members of our family on my mom's mother's side who immigrated from Finland. See the results of his research and links to the sites he contacted here. Below is a picture from my mom's father's side.
