This is the view from our hostel, way up on Bathwick Hill. Bath is unusual in that it was built (rebuilt) almost all at once so that it's all one style -- neoclassical. The predominantly white buildings give it a nearly Mediterranean look. It was the resort town of people like Jane Austen, who didn't much like it. Of course, in those days, you weren't experiencing the rejuvenating effects of Bath unless you drank liters of its waters every day. Apparently it wasn't all that tasty. But everyone who was anyone vacationed here and took advantage of the spas.
