We took an overnight train from Berlin that stopped in Munich on our way to Austria. By this time, I was sick with a dreadful cold I had caught from poor Diane. We spent part of the day wandering to Apothekes (pharmacists) looking for cold medicine only to find that in Germany all the medicine is behind the counter and you have to ask for it. So then I spent some time trying to think up the words for "cough," "congestion," "big snot wads," "blech," etc. Finally, I got some cough goop I will not dignify it with the name "syrup." It was brown, viscous, and herb-flavored. If I were at all nauseated, I would have had to just live with the cough. Travel tip: Bring all-purpose cold tablets along, just in case. Kelly was nice enough to give me her last Contacs once we got into Vienna.
