EUROPE, APRIL-MAY '01: PARIS, FRANCE
I had to lighten this picture to make the pieta visible. That's the most noticeable difference between English cathedrals and other European ones: the amount of light. This was obviously a very bustling cathedral, touristwise, but it strives to remain a holy place at the same time. So every five minutes or so, a voice would come over the loudspeaker: "Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ... shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ... silence." (You must pronounce it French and very slowly [seelaaahnss] for the full effect.)
