I reserved our hostel room on the phone. I spoke in German because I wasn't sure if it was part of the International Hostelling Association or just an independent one. When I got off, Steve asked what I had reserved and I said, "I have no idea." I tried to sum up what I made out, "Something about a shower, possibly, and four beds, but only being charged the double rate. I think." Well, I got the nouns right — we had a four-bed room with an attached bathroom with a shower, and we were charged only the two-bed price. For someone phone-phobic and bad at conversing in other languages, I guess I pulled through pretty well. Whew.
