Returning to our regularly scheduled program.... If immigrants were ill, they were housed in the hospital on the island until they recovered. Very few immigrants were actually turned away, and most for being insane, criminal, or too poor. At one point in Ellis Island history, each immigrant was required to have at least $25 and a train ticket at hand. You'll have to take my word for it, but the Statue of Liberty is through the left window beyond the tree branches.
