Jim planned the whole trip himself, designing a timeline of fun activities and visits and keeping to a strict budget (hence, sleeping on an air mattress on our floor — we also were sleeping on one, since our belongings hadn't yet been delivered). All he told Jeanie beforehand were the dates of the trip and to pack one suitcase of warm-weather clothes and one of cool. He then brought the appropriate one. Jeanie was pleasantly surprised, even when she found out she'd be sleeping and eating on our floor (shabby chic).
