We thought we'd get the super-touristy things out of the way, so Mick here showed us around the Tower of London. When we went to London in 2001 and Steve didn't visit the Tower, some people didn't let us hear the end of it. So here we were, completing his education. Mick had a decided flair for the gruesome. He's probably gesturing at how a famous prisoner's hands were cuffed while being led to a gory beheading. Mick, who lives in an apartment at the Tower in the very midst of all its bloody history, does Jack the Ripper tours on the side.

I don't know why, but every time I visit the Tower of London, I have my picture taken in one of these guard booths.

Tower Bridge. Incidentally, we decided to bring our "real" camera on this trip so that our digital camera wouldn't be dropped in a train toilet as happened to a camera last trip (oops — my bad). There was a roll of black & white in still, so we were using it up the first day.
