What is definitely not legend is the ruins of the 13th-century castle on Tintagel Head.
Tintagel Head is connected to the mainland by a narrow strip of inaccessible land, so to get there you have to rely on a daunting set of uneven stone stairs — first way, way down, then up, up, up.
