ENGLAND, MAY-JUNE '04
Most of Tintagel the town is pretty kitschy and touristy. As the legendary birthplace of King Arthur, every other store is Guinevere's Gifts or Merlin's Cheap Crappe Shoppe. The most picturesque building in the village is this little 14th-century manor house, restored to its 19th-century use as a post office. Notice how the heavy slate roof has caused it to buckle charmingly. To see inside, go here.
The Arthurian legends are the town's touristic bedrock, though they're of more dubious origin. Here's the cave Merlin's ghost is said to haunt. Spoooooky.
